Dubai Airport Freezone awards suppliers for commissioning Dhs18m project in record time

Dubai Airport Freezone has recognized outstanding work and dedication by three of its supplier companies by presenting them with an award for completing technical works in an Dhs18m project in record time.

"The award was given for the companies' best performance in chiller plant refurbishment works. As a regular development by Dubai Airport Freezone the central chiller plant capacity has upgraded from 6050 tons to 9350 tons. This upgrading work has involved installation of new equipments like chillers, cooling towers, pumps and electrical panels etc. The suppliers and contractors have extended full support by organizing and assigning their team towards the commissioning of these equipments in less than 10hours."

The Dubai Airport Freezone is following an upwards growth trajectory and a year on year revenue increase despite the difficult economic climate. The Dubai Airport Freezone has recently posted a 48% increase in revenue in the first half of 2009 compared to the same period in 2008.

The Free Zone has achieved high growth rates in 2008 as occupancy for international companies increased by 58% leading to 84% increase in net profits and 59% in revenues compared to 2007.
Dubai Airport Freezone will invest Dh1.3bn to almost double its capacity with six new buildings and a hotel.

The expansion comes at a time of significant growth and expectations of high demand from companies relocating to the Free Zone in the coming years.

Dubai Airport Free Zone established in 1996 offers companies operating at the Free Zone 100% foreign ownership, Free Zone companies will benefit from 100% repatriation of capital and 100% corporate import/ export, personal income, and commercial levies tax exemption. The Free Zone has contributed a 100% increase in the handling capacity of DNATA at the Free Zone in the period 2005-2007. (Current capacity 200,000 tonnes per annum).
