The roadshow is linked to Friendi mobile's latest tie-ups with other international providers to offer cheaper call rates between the two networks.
Antti Arponen, CEO of Friendi mobile said,
"The majority of Oman will now have heard of Friendi mobile. However, due to lack of access to the media and Internet, we realize that labourers, who make up a massive portion of Oman's expatriate community, may not really be aware of what we do or, more importantly, what we can offer them. By visiting the labour camps our roadshows go straight to the heart of this often overlooked audience."
"In addition to lower local call rates, we can offer them savings on their mobile communications through our relationships with other providers in their home country."
By building relationships with operators in other countries, Friendi mobile is providing its expatriate customers in Oman highly competitive mobile call rates and soon to be launched innovative services in their home countries. The brand's newest tie up is with Idea Cellular in Kerala, India, offering better rates for calls between subscribers of the respective networks.
Friendi mobile customers in Oman can call a family member who subscribes to Idea Cellular in Kerala for as low as 139bz per minute, while subscribers of Idea in Kerala will also benefit from a reduced rate when calling Friendi mobile subscribers in Oman. "Starter packs are available to labour camp staff at special rates and customers are able to purchase recharge cards for as low as 500 Bz, making it very attractive to everyone."
The labour camp events, usually running between 5pm and 9pm, have certainly been putting a smile on the faces of these hard working individuals.
"Our events are great fun, with lots of games, music and chances to win free starter packs and recharge cards. New customers get a free gift and we've already had a great response. So far we have signed up an overwhelming number of new customers, all eager to take advantage of Friendi mobile's low cost international call rates and wonderful 100 free minutes and 100 free SMSs offer," says Arponen.
Promotional posters, flyers and information packs on the event have been produced in six different languages to cater for the diverse range of potential customers. Arabic, English, Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu and Bengali speaking labourers are all being serviced during the tours.
