- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, July 26 - 2009 at 11:39
- PRESS RELEASE
The American University in Dubai (AUD) meets the public's needs again by announcing the newest additions to its academic programs: a Bachelor's of Architecture and a Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies.
During the course of their studies, students will be provided with the necessary architectural skills and knowledge enabling them to think in a multidimensional and interactive way, make choices and decisions with regards to technologies available in the market, and produce and present architectural designs catering to every need and in harmony with the human, socio-cultural and economic aspects at the local, regional, and global levels.
AUD's Bachelor's of Architecture is endorsed by an advisory council that includes honorary members such as Malaysian architect, ecologist and author Kenneth Yeang, Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott, architect Hazel Wong and master planner Larry Zeibarth, who have all announced being delighted to participate in the advisory council and highly supportive of the program.
AUD has also created a Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies, effective Fall 2009, based on the observed increasing interest of regional and foreign students in developing an understanding of the region and in seeking employment here. This 18 credits program caters to students pursuing a bachelor's degree at AUD, or attending the university either as a visiting student in the Study Abroad Program or as an exchange student, and to graduates who are only seeking admission to the program. Highly experienced international faculty will introduce students to an array of factors that have shaped this area through time, and enhance their knowledge of the profile and texture of the current Middle Eastern landscape.
Foreign students will benefit from this unique opportunity to develop their awareness of Middle Eastern culture by living in a Middle Eastern country that bridges the gap between East and West, while earning credit at an American-accredited university. The Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies will surely play a role in the students' professional endeavors and success regardless of the profession they eventually choose.
Admissions to the Bachelor's of Architecture are now open; however, due to the large amount of applications, you are advised to submit your application by August 10.
