HP consolidates position as leading PC vendor in the Middle East

HP has continued to consolidate its position as the leading PC vendor in the Middle East according to recently released figures from International Data Corporation (IDC).

Current market share across all of the product ranges across desktop, notebook and PC servers in the Middle East currently stands at 19.4 % for the fourth quarter of 2002.

Across the region, market share on the desktop was 18% in the fourth quarter last year while that of notebooks stood at 25.9%. "It is our customers in the Middle East who put us into the number one position," says Christoph Schell, General Manager of the Personal Systems Group of HP Middle East. "It is testimony to our continued focus on meeting their needs that we continue to hold this position. We recently announced that HP would be establishing a local assembly plant in Saudi Arabia and we will be providing further details on this initiative soon. This underlines once again our determination to provide the best possible service to our customers in this region," he adds.

HP continues to bring innovative products across all product sectors. Recent offerings include the unique iPAQ H5400 series, Tablet PC, wireless notebooks and other mobile solutions."

HP continues to enjoy prime rankings in the UAE PC market. The Personal Systems Group of HP continues to defend its number one position across all form factors, ranking at 39.5% market share, whereas the second runner-up ranks at 12.6% market share. In the desktop domain, HP maintains an impressive 42.7% market share.

Also In the Egyptian market place, HP Middle East has preserved its number one positioning in the PC Server Market, demonstrating an impressive 48.7% market share. In notebooks, HP is well ahead of its competitors at a 31.2% market share.
