Int@j conducts trade mission to Portugal for IT companies

Following up on His Majesty King Abdullah 2nd earlier visit this year to Portugal, the ICT Association of Jordan - Int@j conducted a trade mission to Portugal between July 12, 2009 and July 16, 2009.
The trade mission focused on using Information Technology as a tool for education reform as Jordanian IT companies hold a niche in this area and have built education and e-learning management platforms and digital curricula for education based on the priority Jordan has set to reform education during the past years and His Majesty King Abdullah and Her Majesty Queen Rania focus on building a knowledge economy and society.
The Jordanian delegation met with the Portuguese Ministry of ICT and Ministry of Education and discussed cooperation between the two countries as Portugal focused in the past couple of years on increasing access to information through broadband by utilizing low cost laptops bundled with internet connectivity to all students at all levels
Jordan on the other hand focused on developing education management and e-learning solutions, and developing curricula and education resources for teachers and students provided through a centralized system in addition to developing the capacity of teachers' skills through professional training.
Through the different meetings held in Portugal, the two countries experiences complement each other and opportunities are open for Jordanian companies building on their strengths in ICT in education especially that Portugal is about to start working on education curricula and its content.
Furthermore, Jordanian companies presented a summary of their products and services, and achievements in ICT in Education to the Portuguese side, Int@j presented a summary of the ICT sector development in Jordan and the companies working in the field of ICT in Education and their capacity, experience, and products, in addition to JEI presenting an overview of education reform and development in Jordan.
