The scholarships cover varying fees from full tuition (excluding textbooks, accommodation and living expenses) to first year or a semester of study.
The scholarships were awarded to students commencing degree courses in Bachelor of Commerce (with specializations in Management, Marketing Management and Finance), Bachelor of Media (with specializations in Radio and Screen & Sound), Bachelor of Mass Communication (with specializations in Journalism and Public Relations) and Master of Business Administration.
The selection criteria in the undergraduate category concentrated on merit, academic excellence, participation in extra-curricular activities and overall achievements. At the postgraduate level, the scholarship was awarded based on impressive academic records and demonstrated excellence at work.
Professor John Grainger, Pro-Vice Chancellor of MUISCD said:
"Our scholarships reflect the value we attach to outstanding performance and equal opportunity. MUISCD is thrilled to recognise and reward the efforts of academically commendable students who have chosen to study with us. We have had some outstanding applicants who truly deserve these esteemed awards. The scholarship program not only enables the deserving students to pursue a study field of their interest but also is a useful merit when applying for employment after graduation."
He added: "We are proud to say the recipients represent several cultural and ethnic backgrounds and that our scholarships encourage and promote diversity."
Ms. Tasnim Saleh, 29, Kuwaiti national and a graduate of American University of Kuwait, who was awarded with full scholarship in the MBA program having submitted an exceptionally impressive application showing an outstanding academic record, impressive work experience and excellent references, commented:
"Being awarded a scholarship is an honour that will open doors for me in the future. I feel that the scholarship to do the MBA at Murdoch University is a great reward to years of hard work. It has reaffirmed my confidence in myself and showed me that hard work really pays off in the end."
"As a member of the GCC community I believe that my education is an investment not only in myself and my future, but in the community. I am glad to have found a post-graduate degree that will boost my career prospects greatly, with an impressive curriculum and friendly campus."
Indian national and high school graduate of Dubai Gem Private School, Ms. Kanak Devnani, 19, was awarded with a full three year scholarship in the Bachelor of Media program.
"Her application showed evidence of a great academic record, a great personal statement and excellent command of English."
said Mr. Simon Order, Academic Director for Media and Mass Communication at MUISCD.
"Her achievements included not only receiving a Sheikh Hamdan award for Special Achievement but she also had great references including an internship conducted with MTV India. She also submitted outstanding artefacts that showed her potential as a visual artist."
Murdoch University International Study Centre Dubai is a core branch of Murdoch University which is based in Perth, Western Australia.
