"Both the 2010 and 2013 FINA swimming events are huge news for Dubai and Dubai Sports City's Swimming Academy will be proud to play a support role in the lead up to both events through teams' use of our outstanding international caliber facilities,"said Jeff O'Brien, Academies Manager, Dubai Sports City.
The Dubai Sports City Swimming Academy includes an Olympic-size 50 metre pool which can be transformed into two 25 metre short-course pools, with VIP areas and spectator seating. The first-of-its-kind facility will have state-of the-art video analysis software and a camera system in the pool to allow coaches to provide instant advice to swimmers.
Visiting international teams will also have access to dry side training equipment, recovery facilities and the Hi Performance Centre within the campus to complete their training environment. With the facilities on offer, the Swimming Academy is expected to serve as a training and holding camp venue for international squads.
The Dubai Sports City Academies Campus also includes the Dubai Sports City Football Academy; a David Lloyd Tennis Academy; and a Butch Harmon School of Golf, the first such facility outside the United States.
In addition, the Dubai Sports City Academies Campus is home to the International Cricket Council's own ICC Global Cricket Academy; the World Hockey Academy in partnership with the International Hockey Federation; a Rugby Academy, a High Performance Centre; and a world-renowned sports medicine and rehabilitation clinic.
