The visitors were all eager to learn about benefits of adherence to safety rules as they lined up to experience the simulator which gives the rider an idea of a car rolling over without the motorist being thrown over from the vehicle.
The pavilion has been set up as part of the ongoing Summer Festivities organised by the Qatar Tourism and Exhibitions Authority which will be held until 15 August.
Ghanim Al Kuwari, Chief Operating Officer, Qatargas - Administration, commented of the initiative saying:
"As road safety is of paramount importance to people's lives in Qatar, we attach much significance to the issue and have been organising this campaign continuously for the past five years. This is part of our corporate social responsibility endeavours. We believe that road safety is everyone's responsibility and invite people from all walks to life to visit our pavilion to get a first hand experience of the roll-over simulator and know the safety rules."
The pavilion also showcases a safety-belt convincer, which shows the rider the benefit of wearing a seat-belt even at a speed of eight kilometers per hour, in addition to educational films, distribution of literature and explanation of the road safety rules.
In addition to the annual road safety campaigns, Qatargas also has other initiatives that promote safe driving. The Steer club (Steer is an acronym for Safe Traffic Ethics on Every Road) is one such initiative. Anyone with a Qatar driver's license can join the club at no cost. All the members have to do is collect safe driving miles. The ultimate goal of the club is to collect enough safe driving miles to have reached collectively the distance from the earth to the Sun; some 150 million kilometers. The club organizes several events and competitions aimed at promoting safe driving and rewards safe drivers by giving away valuable prizes through raffle draws.
