During this half-day seminar, HP will be presenting and discussing its full portfolio of e-Government Solutions, e-Education solutions and Healthcare Information Systems with its customers.

For the past 40 years, the public sector has been a key focus area for HP. By working closely with partners, HP now offers the widest IT product and solution portfolio as well as consulting, customer support and project management to enable governments to optimise its services. Thus enabling the public accessibility to government initiatives, procedures and general information via the web.

"Over the past few years, the Middle East region has invested heavily in information technology, due to the demand generated by a local market of 5 billion in 2003," said Joseph Hanania, Regional General Manager HP Middle East and Enterprise Solutions Manager. "Through the support of government initiatives throughout the region, such as Smart Village and Computers at Home and School, the Middle East's burgeoning IT industry continues to evolve at a steady pace."

HP will be presenting several models for e-government infrastructure platforms for countries in the Middle East to use as a means to providing a modern Information Society. Guest speaker at the event will be Mr. Salem Al-Shair, Director of E-Services and Member of Dubai e-Govenment Executive Team who will be addressing the role of IT within the UAE Government and the way forward.

"It is hugely important for governments today to offer information about public services transparently to their citizens. Education and healthcare initiatives and programmes should be readily available to the public, in an easily accessible format online," said Rudi Richter, Director Government and Public Affairs, Eastern & Central Europe, Middle East & Africa. "HP will continue to concentrate resources and its expertise here in order to help the Middle East become a centre of excellence for the construction of e-Government services."

HP's e-Government Solutions seminar road show will open at the Faisaliah Hotel in Saudi Arabia on 8 April 2003 and in Egypt on 29 April 2003.
