Winners in the 'World's Best Internet Banks' were chosen among entries evaluated by a world-class judging panel.

Winning banks were selected based on the following criteria: strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives, and web site design and functionality.

"In less than a decade, the Internet has transformed the way many consumers and most businesses bank," Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher of Global Finance, said. "The continuing improvements in Internet offerings represented by this year's entries show that more significant Internet banking developments are still ahead of us."

BankMuscat has been at the forefront of developing Internet-based delivery capabilities for both retail customers and corporate clients, in addition to other Internet initiatives that provide clients with full procurement solutions. BankMuscat Online Banking provides a host of services, including transfer of funds (between your accounts), utility bill payment, create / rollover term deposit, credit card payment, order cheque book or demand draft and much more. The online banking site assures the highest level of security commercially available on the Internet.

Earlier this year, BankMuscat set an unbroken record for the ninth year, winning the Best Bank in Oman - 2009 award from Global Finance magazine. The Bank also won the Best Foreign Exchange Bank in Oman award for 2009 from Global Finance. The prestigious award was granted to the Bank for the sixth consecutive year. The Bank also won the Best Investment Bank and Best Trade Finance Bank awards for 2009 from Global Finance.

A keen perception of customer requirements has enabled BankMuscat to develop products and services in line with the current and emerging needs. Committed to serving the community and making a substantial difference to the nation, BankMuscat remains focused on its mission of attracting one million customers by 2010.

A multi-award winning organisation, BankMuscat holds the rare distinction of being voted the 'Best Bank in Oman' for seven years by The Banker, FT London, and eight times in a row by Euromoney. BankMuscat recently won the prestigious Hewitt recognition as the Middle East's Best Employer 2009.

The top-notch awards were in recognition of the best overall performance in terms of qualitative achievements and strategic initiatives. The awards speak volumes on the unrivalled position enjoyed by BankMuscat in the Sultanate. Consistently winning prestigious global awards has helped the Bank to further raise the bar on performance and adopt new initiatives to stretch operational standards that reflect all-round excellence in performance.
