Umniah launches its 3X3 basketball championship in the Al Riyadi Club's Basketball Courts

The Championship will take place on Friday the 31st of July 2009 at 8 am, bringing a group of amateur teams to compete under two categories; one for players over 20 and another for players under 20.

The Championship will also include to two competitions for free throws and dunks with the participation of a number of well-known star basket ball players. Every team in each category will have the chance to win several valuable prizes, including a $1000 prize for teams winning 1st place in each category as well as gold medals, whilst the second prize will comprise of $400 and silver medals. There will also be a number of other prizes including t-shirts for all contestants.

Commenting on this activity Mrs. Rania Salfiti, Umniah's Communications Manager, said:

"We are happy to be organizing this championship in collaboration with the Al-Riyadi Club; it is a unique opportunity for us to interact with youth and meet with basketball fans in a competitive and enthusiastic environment. We are continuously participating in activities that encourage youth to engage in sports and hone their skills in light of the great positive health and social returns that playing sports yield."

Mr. Eyad Kamal, Head of Al Riyadi Club, conveyed his pleasure to be partnering with Umniah in a number of activities that help towards accomplishing the Club's goals in order to develop Jordanian basketball talent and steer it towards attaining its goals in competing in different Arab and International championships.

Umniah's 3X3 Championship falls under several of the Al-Riyadi Club's activities that Umniah will be supporting. Umniah recently announced the renewal of its agreement with the Al Riyadi Basketball Club for the second consecutive year, placing Umniah as a sponsor of the Club's basketball youth teams which comprise of approximately 400 male and female players between the ages of 5 and 15, and an exclusive sponsor of four of these teams.
