Tilmann Gabriel, President and CEO of Safi Airways, said:
"The move from Dubai International's Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 could not have come at a better time. Safi Airways starts ticket distribution worldwide through all reservation systems and can now serve connecting traffic from all around the world via Dubai to and from Afghanistan."
Ticket Sales through all IATA travel agents will enable the airline to start cooperation with other airlines, facilitate seamless travel for passengers going to or from Afghanistan and using Dubai International as their favourite gateway for the change of plane.
"Previously, passengers had to be transferred from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 to make their onward flight. The launch of our flights from Terminal 1 translates into more convenience and shorter connecting times for our customers," Gabriel added.
The past months marked major changes for the airline. On May 15th, the airline became the first Afghan carrier to be awarded the compliance certificate for adherence to the international safety standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). A month later Safi Airways opened its first intercontinental route from Kabul to Frankfurt, the first non-stop flight after more than 30 years from Afghanistan to Europe.
Safi Airways currently operates with a fleet of Boeing 737-300 and Boeing 767-200ER and is planning to undergo a major renewal of its fleet with either Boeing or Airbus aircraft.
hairman Abdul Rahim Safi said, "Safi Airways has progressed so quickly in the past four months that we now have to expand our fleet to ensure we can continue to deliver our 95% on-time performance in the future."
Safi Airways will not only renew but also increase its fleet of aircraft to support the planned growth for more regional routes to Delhi and Amritsar. New long-haul aircraft are planned to fly to Jeddah, Beijing and Moscow within the next half year and support the ever increasing demand for seats on Dubai - Kabul.
