The UAE is one of the region's most prolific internet users, with a penetration rate of 43%. The agreement between Injazat and .aeCERT aims to leverage this solid rate to encourage even more online activity from UAE users. The TRA has been regulating UAE-based website domains through its .aeDA department since 2007.
Ibrahim Lari, CEO, Injazat, said:

Our accreditation as a domain registrar will enable us to better assist the TRA in its goal of creating an optimal enabling environment for the UAE's information and communications technology (ICT) sector."
H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General, UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, said, "The signing of this MoU is considered an important step in providing Injazat with high-quality services that will protect its IT infrastructure via .aeCERT, whose objectives are to enhance the cyber security law and assist in the creation of new ones and enhance information security awareness across the UAE."
"ae.CERT's aims to build national expertise in information security, incident management and computer forensics; provide a central trusted point of contact for cyber security incident reporting in the UAE; establish a national center to disseminate information about threats, vulnerabilities, and cyber security incidents; foster the establishment of, and provide assistance to, sector-based Computer Security Incidents Response Teams (CSIRTs); coordinate with domestic and international CSIRTs and related organizations; and become an active member of recognized security organizations and forums," added Al Ghanim.
The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority was established via Decree No. 3 of 2003 - Telecom Law as prescribed by UAE Federal Law. The Authority derives its organizational objectives from the Telecom Law, its Executive Order, and the UAE National Telecommunications Policy. It performs its duties based on the values of transparency, fairness, credibility, sector participation, Emiratization, creativity, and awareness.
Injazat Data Systems is a joint venture between Mubadala Development Co. and EDS, an HP company with 46 years of global expertise in the IT managed services industry. The company holds more than 50% of the UAE's IT outsourcing market and is the owner of the first Tier IV design certified Data centre in the region and the only one of its kind outside of North America.
