William Bickerdike, CIE Regional Manager for Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan, said:

CIE has seen an impressive growth in entries for the June 2009 exam session. Worldwide entries for CIE qualifications in June 2009 rose by 15% on the same session last year. Entries for Cambridge International AS/A Levels grew by 14%, and entries for Cambridge IGCSE - the most popular international curriculum in the world - rose by nearly 20%.
The most popular subjects at Cambridge International A/AS Level in June 2009 show that students are favouring social sciences. The top five subjects worldwide were Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, and Business Studies.
The fastest growing subject is Applied ICT. Cambridge International A/AS Level qualifications are a gateway for students to gain places on degree courses at leading universities worldwide.
