  • PRESS RELEASE

RAK based Arab Youth Venture Foundation announces its new youth literacy initiative, "The Arabian Story Tent (Khaimat Al Qisas Al Arabiya)".

The free sessions taking place at RAK's Manar Mall feature story-telling sessions, creative writing workshops and a comfortable reading lounge/library. Sessions run Thursday and Friday, Aug. 6 and 7th from 6pm to midnight for youth ages 3 and above.

The Arabian Story Tent is part of the Summer festivities under the Patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of RAK with the Emirates Foundation of Abu Dhabi as the title sponsor.

According to Lisa LaBonté, CEO, AYVF,

"Our goal with Khaimat Al Qisas is to fuel the mastery of the Arabic language among UAE school aged children. The creative writing and animated reading sessions are aimed at inspiring kids to embrace Arabic and instill an interest in- and habit toward reading in particular. To this end we're collaborating with UAE's leading publisher of Arabic children's books - Jerboa Books, a sister company of Magrudy's."

Commenting on the importance of the program, Jeremy Brinton, CEO of Magrudy's, states "Jerboa Books is dedicated to producing top quality children's books in Arabic and English which focus on the culture, heritage and wildlife of Arabia. Fostering a love of books from the earliest age is vital for children's development and learning. We are delighted to provide books for the Reading Lounge Library and Storytelling Station -- as well as taking it a step further by donating one Jerboa Book of choice to each participant!"
