The awards also assist in raising public awareness as well as the well-being of the patients. It also promotes competition amongst the professionals by pushing them strive for clinical excellence and portray and show their work to the dental community, providing credible publicity to themselves and their practices.
These Aesthetic Dentistry Mena awards are being jointly organized by Emirates Medical Association's Dental Society and CAPP - Centre for Advanced Professional Practices. They are currently being supported by several regional dental associations and societies and reputed dental brands and suppliers as well as a number of local, regional and international media agencies.
The awards comprises of several categories for participants to compete in.
This includes:
• Conservative aesthetic best case
• Prosthetic restoration (fixed and removable) best case
• Implantology and red-aesthetic best case
• Orthodontic best case
• Facial reconstruction best case
• Students best research
• Students best case
• Charity treated patient best case
The category for Charity Treated Best Case has been included to specifically honor those who have been involved in community service or have made a difference to the underprivileged through their services.
In addition to the above, there are two categories for senior dental students - Students Best Case and Students Best Research. These have been included in order to provide a regional and international platform and opportunity for the upcoming dental professionals of tomorrow to showcase their clinical achievements and researches to the dental community to date.
Dr Dobrina Mollova, Managing Director of CAPP Centre for Advanced Professional Practices, said:
"This endeavor on our part has received huge support from the International Association of Dental Students (IADS), a subsidiary of FDI based in France. All the Participating students will be awarded Certificates of Achievement by IADS as well as have the opportunity of having their entries published in the IADS official newsletter publication, which is an excellent platform for upcoming dentists."
Interested professionals and students can easily participate in the awards by submitting their entries as per the set criteria regulations and requirements. Every participant can submit only one case per category, but can enter in as many categories they desire. Each entry must include a brief case description and a set of pre and post-operative images as per the requirements detailed in the general regulations and the photographic requirements. Entries can be submitted either by post on C.D or can be submitted online latest by September 1st 2009.
A jury panel of 9 elite members, highly renowned dental professionals from around the world has been put together to evaluate and score the participants' cases. Each case is anonymous to the jury panel throughout the scoring process.
During the process, three participants will be shortlisted for each award category. They will then be invited for the gala ceremony on November 5th 2009 at Jumeirah Beach Hotel-Dubai, UAE where the winners will then be announced and awarded in the presence of senior government officials, VIPs, top dental professionals and local, regional and international media.
In addition to this each shortlisted case will gain 30 hours CME hours (Continuing Medical Education). 50 CME hours are required to be gained annually and mandatory for all medical and dental professionals to undergo license renewal.
CAPP is the only private company provider of accredited Continued Medical Education Programs in the Middle East.
The Aesthetic Dentistry Mena Awards 2009 form a precursor to the 1st Dental-Facial Cosmetic International Conference 2009 which will be held on November 6th and 7th 2009 at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel-Dubai, UAE.
