Alba's Acting General Manager Calciner, Abdul Rahman Janahi will be taking over as chairman of Albaskan Committee from Mohammed Mahmood who was recently promoted as Chief Operations Officer at Alba.

As the new Chairman of the Albaskan committee, Mr. Janahi brings with him many years of leadership capability at the professional level and rich experience in being at the forefront of various community service projects.

He joined Alba in 1976 as an apprentice and rose through the ranks to managerial positions in various departments and spear-headed various projects and employee surveys. He has also served in the Alba Toastmasters and taken active role in various community service activities.

Mr. Janahi was part of the very first Albaskan committee when it was founded in 1979 and regards his new appointment as a welcome opportunity to 'maximise benefits for Alba employees and eliminate difficulties that they may face.'

Albaskan has been one of Alba's earliest corporate social responsibility initiatives and was previously involved in the construction of brand new houses for Bahraini employees.

Later the scheme discontinued construction and began taking active steps in providing interest-free housing loans thereby giving more freedom to employees in deciding their housing requirements.

"The housing situation in Bahrain has undergone radical transformation since Albaskan housing project was first introduced thirty years ago. The challenges have been enormous but we have been able to overcome and resolve those challenges by pursuing a clear strategy for success. As a result many of our employees have benefited from Albaskan and are able to enjoy the satisfaction of living in the house of their dreams,"
remarked Mr. Janahi.

"One of the prime reasons for Albaskan's success has been in the way it has been a shining example of the seamless co-operation existing between members of the Alba Union and members of the Executive Management in achieving Albaskan goals and satisfying the needs of Alba's employees," he added.

Former Chairman of the Albaskan Committee, Mohammed Mahmood also reiterated the pivotal role of the Alba Union in shaping Albaskan's success story.

"Alba Union's primary task is to work on behalf of the workers at Alba, and with Albaskan, they are offered a tremendous opportunity to work hand in hand with the executive management in achieving this goal," he pointed out.

Alba supports numerous community oriented programmes and social activities that have underlined its status as one of Bahrain's leading industrial organisations that remains fully committed to its corporate social responsibility.
