'Back to School' charity drive at Qurum City Centre

As many children prepare to start a new term after the summer holidays, Qurum City Centre is urging parents to donate as part of 'Back to School' charity drive used items that are still in a good condition such as textbooks, bags and stationery.

The popular community shopping mall has teamed up with Dar Al Atta'a, a non-profit organization, to distribute the items among less fortunate students.

The charity initiative will run from August 11 to 21. The collection box has been placed in the corridor leading to the food court on Level 1 of the shopping centre.

Mother of two, Riyana Mehra, who lives in neighbouring Al Khuwair says it is an excellent way of helping others. "Each year I feel so guilty in simply throwing away a school bag or text books that somebody else could use. Back home, there was always someone you could pass these things on to but here I just don't know what to do with it. I am very happy that Qurum City Centre is giving us the opportunity to do something good for society."
