Barclays Bank Egypt appoints Kashif Sohail as the Consumer Banking Director
- Egypt: Thursday, August 13 - 2009 at 09:49
Barclays Bank Egypt announced the appointment of Kashif Sohail as the Consumer Banking Director for his distinguished performance and effective role in achieving a constant and balanced growth in the consumer banking sector.
Part of this policy is the promotion within the bank, with priority to leadership positions. This factor has contributed positively in enhancing the human resource base and has made Barclays Egypt a center for the foundation of distinguished expertise in the Egyptian banking sector.
Kashif joined Barclays Egypt in May 2008 as Head of Cards and quickly took on additional responsibilities for Retail Assets. He played a key leadership role in conceptualizing the strategy and driving the cross functional team towards creating a paradigm shift in our business model.
Over the last 15 months, 'Value vs. Volume' has been at the core of the Cards and Retail Assets businesses as they positively evolved via productivity enhancements, people development, process improvements and customer proposition enhancement.
The results are reflected in our Cards business winning 2 prestigious VISA International awards and Retail Assets portfolios shifting towards more profitable segments. Kashif recently also took over the responsibilities for debit cards, alternate channels and marketing to drive the overall customer proposition further by leveraging synergies across different units and functions.
Before joining Barclays Bank Egypt, Kashif was in the UAE for over 11 years with Citibank and Mashreq Bank. He started his Consumer Banking career in Retail Credit and moved to Product Management after spending 6 years in different Credit Risk Management roles in Assessment & Credit Ops, Policy& MIS, Collections as well as Consumer Banking Analytics.
Prior to moving to Dubai, Kashif held various positions in Investment Banking, Forex Trading and Economic Research in Pakistan.
In his new position, Kashif Sohail will head all consumer banking activities. This post follows Barclays strong belief in the importance of the current consumer banking role, advancing customer service and offering various products and services that cater to all segments.
Service development and customer service support are among Barclays top priorities, especially since the consumer banking sector is witnessing a large expansion in its client base during the geographical expansion plan made by the bank over the last three years. It was due to these factors and his extensive experience in this field that Kashif Sohail was the obvious choice for this appointment.
Kashif holds an MBA degree with a specialization in financial management.
