Organized under the patronage of IBQ and championed by the ICC-One Toastmasters, a member of the renowned and prestigious Toastmasters International, the competition is open to all residents over the age of 18 to practice and refine their communications know-how in an effort to boost their leadership and interpersonal skills, two key success factors in their interactions within the community and the workplace.

The Awards kicks-off with preliminary rounds in October ending with a finale ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel on November 20th where the best speakers in Qatar will be named in both the Humorous and the International categories. Successful Toastmasters are some of Qatar's top Businessmen, Finance Managers, Sales Managers, Operations Managers and Professionals. Others pursue Toastmasters as a hobby or for personal development. The Toastmasters meet on a bi-monthly basis and conduct various Speech craft and Youth Leadership programs in line with the Toastmasters International guidelines.

Following a cheque presentation ceremony held at the IBQ headquarters in Al-Sadd, George Nasra, IBQ Managing Director said:

"With customer service as a hallmark to our approach, IBQ has been constantly praised for the significance we place on upgrading and developing our human skills. This has its foundation in our belief that the arts of communications are a fundamental and decisive factor in the success of any business. We see in the Toastmasters a premium opportunity to accentuate our commitment to and engagement with our community through endeavors that would truly help build and enrich useful and productive talent."

"The competition was initiated to promote local awareness of public speaking and its importance in developing effective communication, personal development and leadership skills and these are some of our core corporate values and norms at IBQ. Effective open communication is consistently encouraged within and beyond the workplace and we believe this to be one of the key differentials of building and maintaining an outstanding pool of professionals."

Toastmasters witnessed considerable growth over the past few years and have become one of the major Calendar Events with an increasing number of members and a higher representation of young people from all backgrounds.

M.I. Farid, Founder President of the ICC-ONE Toastmasters said:" We thank IBQ for their continuous support and firm belief in the value of promoting the mission and vision of the ICC-One Toastmasters. At the ICC-One Toastmasters, we aim at identifying, developing and nurturing crucial people-to-people skills which would help assert one's communicator role in the community and in the realm of business and to turn into a knowledgeable and an influential voice which would effectively and constructively boost the participants' and members'

self-confidence in their professional and personal lives. To have IBQ as our partner for the fourth year running is a true testament to the importance the bank gives to such valuable skills and to its commitment towards putting those skills into practice throughout the various prongs of its operations."
