This year's event, to be held at Airport Expo Dubai from 17 - 24 October 2009, will bring together the biggest brand names in consumer electronics to offer the most comprehensive array of offers in the Middle East, for mobile phones, laptops, computer accessories as well as the latest leisure and lifestyle gadgets.

Research released by Business Monitor International states that the consumer electronics market, which includes computing devices, mobile handsets, and video and gaming products will increase from $2.9bn in 2008 to $4.5bn by 2013. The research attributes this to the popularity of devices such as 3G mobile handsets, smartphones, mobile computers and LCD and plasma TV sets.

"Gitex Shopper has become synonymous with great choice, quality, and value for money," said Trixee Loh, Senior Vice President, Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of the show. "The show is very family-orientated and the weekends are our most popular days, so this year we are providing more opportunities for people to take advantage of all the great offers."

Recognising the opportunities for growth in the Middle East, many of the world's leading consumer electronic brands will be participating this year, including JVC, and the show's gold sponsor hp.

Gitex Shopper attracts a wide ranging audience that includes IT professionals, technology enthusiasts, students, end-users as well as regional traders.

Gitex Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo 2009 will be held at Airport Expo Dubai from the 17 - 24 October 2009. The show runs from 11am to 10pm daily except Friday when the show will be open from 3pm to 10pm.
