The tour will start in India's commercial capital Mumbai on August 20th at the Taj Hotel. The IEC team will then move to the western industrial city of Ahmedabad, where the presentation will take place at Taj Residency Ummed Hotel on August 21st and the three day tour will end in India's capital New Delhi at Taj Mahal Hotel on August 22nd.
'Eight Indian companies made their debut at Chemtex 2000 and with this road show we are hoping to increase participation in next year's exhibition,' said Binu Pillai, Sales Manager, IEC.
At last year's show Indian giant Petrogas announced their Gulf turnover of US $30 million with growth between 15-20 per cent annually. As a result of Chemtex 2000, Petrogas also sealed new business deals worth US $2 million. Other industry giants at last year's show were Chembon Chemicals and Arcoy Industries of Ahmedabad.
The Middle East's petrochemicals and chemicals sector has reached US $33 billion and is growing at 10-15 per cent annually. The chemical and metal manufacturing industries are the leading sectors in Saudi Arabia's industrial growth with US $128.7 million invested in more factories last year to add to an already existing 132 international joint ventures in the chemical sector.
'Apart from its indigenous production, the Gulf also imports around US $15 billion worth of petrochemical and chemical products annually, of which US $1.5 billion is for the UAE market alone. It makes the Gulf a very important market for the chemicals industry and we want to give Indian companies an opportunity to be a major part of this growth,' added Pillai.
Chemtex and Corrosion Middle East 2002 now in its fifth year will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from March 12 - 14.
