This mutual cooperation is an embodiment of the vision set by SCCD, a company founded in 2007 by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development for the purpose of developing the southern areas of the Kingdom by creating innovative and unique projects that contribute to the overall socioeconomic prosperity of these areas.

To support the launch of the new "Kunouz" line, SCCD has provided Nadia Dajani with all the necessary raw materials, including local Alabaster, green Malachite and Granite stones, all of which were cut, hand-shaped and drilled by members of Women of Al Qadisiyyah and Dana Association for Precious Stones, who received extensive training sponsored by SCCD on how to process and shape these stones, in addition to other training courses on silver working.

The purpose of these training courses was to bring socio-economic benefits to the women of the South and the associations' members by introducing them to the valuable natural heritage of the area and some of its ancient handicrafts, thereby creating new job opportunities that will help them improve their quality of life.

Women of Al Qadisiyyah and Dana Association for Precious Stones will benefit from selling those stones when they are made into jewelry. SCCD has procured a number of machines and modern tools designed for various handicrafts, in addition to securing a number of core improvements to the various associations.

Commenting on the cooperation, Muhammad Turk, SCCD's CEO, said, "This mutual cooperation with renowned designer Nadia Dajani comes to further our work at SCCD in various areas, including the revitalization and support of hand and simple crafts, particularly the manufacturing of local precious stones; in addition to reviving the extraction of raw materials and investing local human resources by securing them with work, and improving their productivity and hence their overall economic situation. This will shorten our journey toward our final objectives, which lie in the essential development of Southern Jordan and making it a regional center for trade and business."

Nadia Dajani echoed Mr. Turk's sentiments, saying she is "thrilled with the release of the Kunouz series, which has born this name to express the 'treasures' which were extracted from Southern Jordan, in their various varieties and colours. We wanted this line to contrast the simple hand made aspect of the local stones using basic techniques, with the sophisticated silver workmanship that we pride ourselves in, in order to produce pieces that are unique in their charm and where the materials are entirely procured and worked locally, and from the final result we believe we have succeeded in this. We also wanted to celebrate the treasures that we have in our country in order to keep and carry a small memento of our country with us wherever we go."

the Kunouz line specializes mainly in a wider variety of masbahas, in addition to, rings, bracelets, earrings and Necklaces to create a series of beautifully made pieces that reflect- the wondrous nature from the hidden treasures of Southern Jordan.
