'Twenty members of staff volunteered to donate blood. Not only did we find the experience rewarding, but we were able to give back to the community at the same time, promoting the role of individuals and highlighting that personal action does make a difference.'
Standard Chartered Bank launched the Employee Volunteering programme across its network in 2006.
The programme gives every Standard Chartered Bank employee two days off each year which can be contributed in man hours to the local community.
The days are part of the employee's working hours, which thereby enable staff to participate in a worthy cause without utilising paid leave entitlement.
