The professional dasher boards, plexi-glass, refrigeration package and Zamboni are all NHL- certified deeming the rink an ideal venue for Ice Hockey matches.
Built using the latest technology in indoor ice rink construction, the rink comprises a built-in thermostat system to adjust the temperature differential needed to maximise competition-standard matches while the massive 20m x 10m LED screen doubles up as an electronic scoreboard.
Mr Gordon Kirk, General Manager, Dubai Ice Rink, said:
"Dubai Ice Rink is an ideal venue to host a corporate event or party with a difference. As an Olympic-sized rink, we are particularly excited at hosting Ice Hockey matches here. These prove to be a great attraction to shoppers who can watch the excitement unfurl from three levels of the mall's thoroughfares. This open-air feel with high roof offers a theatre like show and the players can also feel the excitement which adds to their adrenaline levels for the match itself."
Dubai Ice Rink acts as a multi-purpose venue with a permanent seating capacity of 350 making it an ideal location for private hire for corporate events and parties. Skate instructors are available for consultation which has proven popular during corporate hires as they provide a different approach to team building and other corporate events. Replete with its own in-house F&B outlet on the Mezzanine floor, Dubai Ice Rink can also provide catering for private events.
The rink can also be converted into a Concert space for bigger functions during which customised floor panels are installed to cover the ice rink floor while doubling as an insulator to prevent melting. The 38mm thick ice bed is 3 times greater than specialty ice rinks to withstand the multi-activity skating and daily usage.
In addition to private functions and Ice Hockey matches, Dubai Ice Rink hosts two-hour skating sessions for the public, as well as popular Disco Sessions with a live DJ. Skating lessons are also available and Dubai Ice Rink, along with Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, is currently running summer camps for children during the hot summer months.
