Among the subjects slated for discussion in the majlises and sessions during this Ramadan are the economy, business administration, banking sector, education, sports, issues of people with special needs, public transport, recreation and entertainment, energy issues and the environment, information technology and telecommunications, and public services. In addition to these, special programs to address cultural and social issues specific to journalists in the UAE will also take place. The details of the programs will soon be announced.
Jasim Al Shemsi, Senior Events Management Executive at the Press Club, called up on all media organizations to take advantage of the programs and said:
'These special Ramadan programs are an occasion for media persons to gain firsthand exposure to decision makers in the society and issues of concern to them. We are striving hard to make sure the programs will rise to the expectations of the media fraternity.'
Asserting that the holy month provides a special occasion to strengthen the role of the Press Club as a dynamic platform for debate and discussion between newsmakers and news communicators, Al Shemsi said that the majlises would offer an ambience most conducive to open dialogue and exchange of views due to their non-traditional format.
The Press Club's Ramadan programs, especially the majlises, were remarkably successful in the past years and have hosted many important dignitaries such as Major General Dhahi Khalfan, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, Ahmed Al Sheikh, Media Escort to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sultan Bin Sulayem, Chairman, Dubai World, Sultan Bin Naser Al Suwaidi, Governor of the Central Bank, Ali Al Hadithi, General Manager of MBC Group and Ahmed Abdul Karim Julfar, Chief Operations Officer, Etisalat, besides a host of other prominent people.
