Opel fate still unknown

  • Germany: Sunday, August 23 - 2009 at 10:37

The fate of General Motors German brand Opel is still unknown, after the company's board of directors declined to name Canada's Magna International as the winning bidder for the division, Reuters has reported. Instead, GM directors want to see what financing is available from the German government, in particular to back a rival bid by Brussels-based financial investor RHJ International, two sources familiar with the situation have said. A GM spokeswoman admitted that 'no decision was taken' at the board meeting in its discussions on Opel.
