DCB participate in ASAE and DMAI conventions in Canada and US

A three member delegation from Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB), part of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), participated in the annual convention of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in Toronto from August 15 to 18.

The annual convention offered a platform for education session evolving around the association segment (logistics, management challenges and membership opportunities), networking and marketplace.

Earlier, a three member DCB delegation had participated in the 95th Annual Convention of Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) held in Atlanta, Georgia.

The delegation, headed by Mr. Hamad bin Mejren, DTCM Executive Director Business Tourism, was among approximately 1,000 individuals who attended the convention, including nearly 700 destination marketing professionals, educators, students and industry partners from more than 275 destinations, and nearly 300 exhibitors and sponsors.

The other members of the team were Jerad Bachar, DCB Director, and Natasha Tome, Head of Marketing at DCB.

DCB is a member of DMAI and joined the reputed organisation to enhance the professionalism, effectiveness, and image of Dubai and the DCB.

The convention program included the Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) programme. CDME graduates bring value to a destination team and demonstrate enhanced personal performance through effective organizational and industry leadership.

The CDME designation is recognized by the destination marketing industry as its highest educational achievement. The CDME curriculum prepares individuals to bring forth change and deal with increased competition.

The DCB staff members are expected to earn their CDME certification by the end of 2011.
