Avaya appoints new Director of IP Converged Communications for EMEA

Avaya (NYSE:AV), a global leader in corporate communications networking solutions and services, has announced the appointment of Martin Wicks to the post of Director, IP Converged Communications for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Mr. Wicks, based in Guildford, UK, will have primary responsibility for the region's sales activities for Avaya's Enterprise Class IP Solutions (ECLIPS), bringing reliability, scalability, voice quality, interoperability and application feature/functionality to the world of IP communications, for any company of any size, as well as its Multi Servicing Networking Infrastructure (MSNI) portfolio, which is made up of a comprehensive set of data networking solutions.

Avaya's MSNI portfolio falls into five primary areas: LAN Solutions, including Ethernet, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and multifunction stackable and modular chassis switches and network management software; WAN Solutions, including multi-service access routers, Internet access routers, firewall and virtual private network (VPN) appliances, frame relay access devices and network management tools; Network Services, which includes policy management software and Avaya's Data Services Centre; Wireless solutions, serving the wireless LAN user at home, at the office and in public areas; and Avaya's SYSTIMAX ® structured connectivity solution, enabling the convergence of voice, data and video over private enterprise networks via copper, fibre, wireless software or a combination of all.

"IP converged solutions are critical offerings for Avaya and Martin's proven track record in building up client relationships and increasing sales will be invaluable in helping us achieve continued growth across the region," said Patrick Lelorieux, Avaya's EMEA president.

Having worked in the data networking industry for more than 16 years, Mr. Wicks brings a wealth of broad sales and marketing experience to the position. Before accepting this position, Mr. Wicks was Avaya's director of data networking in Asia-Pacific, where he set up and ran the business unit. He was also Avaya's Asia-Pacific director of sales for small and medium enterprise business.

Prior to joining Avaya, he spent five years as General Manager for Eicon Technology Asia Pacific and subsequently Northern Europe, and also held senior management roles with 3Com and Ascom.
