Sharjah Economic Development Department to co-host Ramadan seminar with Sharjah Cooperative Society

The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), in cooperation with the Sharjah Cooperative Society, will be hosting a Ramadan Seminar at SEDD's conference hall on 26 August 2009.

The seminar will focus on three main points: SEDD's role in supporting Cooperative Society s in Sharjah, the role of Cooperative Societies in meeting basic food needs and fighting high prices, and the role of Cooperative Societies in modifying consumer behaviour.

The seminar aims to clarify the role of Cooperative Societies in ensuring abundant food supply, and will also address their economic and social roles, and their support of social cooperation, as well as evaluating consumer needs, spreading awareness, training and consumer education. The seminar also aims to identify SEDD's role in supporting Cooperative Societies and helping to build Sharjah's economy.

Speaking of the seminar, Nawal Askar, Head of the SEDD's Economic and Public Relations department, said:

"At the directive of H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, SEDD plays an important role in supporting the work and initiatives of the Sharjah Cooperative Society, facilitating the Association's work and supporting its promotional initiatives"


"The seminar, held in the Holy month of Ramadan, confirms SEDD's responsibility towards consumers. SEDD plays an important role in reducing operational costs for the Sharjah Cooperative Society, enabling it to provide high quality products at reasonable prices, which ensures customer satisfaction and helps drive Sharjah's economic growth," she added.
