Emaar, The Economic City (Emaar.E.C), the Tadawul listed company developing King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), has joined hands with GE Security, Inc., a wholly owned affiliate of General Electric Company (GE), for implementing security solutions in the KAEC Business Park.

GE Security provides fire detection, access control and video surveillance for the nearly complete Business Park, and installation work is underway in SAGIA and EEC buildings.

GE Security's modern access control system featuring 27 card readers based on its advanced ATS solution has already been installed. A video surveillance system with over 50 cameras - fixed and hi-speed dome - has also been installed. The cameras are connected to digital recorders that enable automatic storage of images.

Mr Fahd Al-Rasheed, Board Member and Chief Executive Officer, Emaar.E.C, said:

"KAEC is implementing the highest standards in all aspects of its development. Security is one of the key features and requirements for an integrated city, and especially for the Business Park."

He added, "Work on two buildings of the Business Park is nearing completion and hand-over of offices. When completed, the two buildings will offer a fully secure work environment, and feature the latest in amenities."

Jurgen Timperman, Regional General Manager Engineered Systems, GE Security MEA said, "We are implementing our world-class security and life safety solutions to help meet KAEC's needs. GE Security has an established presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is pleased to be associated with the Emaar.E.C. for this remarkable project."

The KAEC Business Park spreads over an area of over 258,000 sq m, and features modern amenities including hi-speed internet and telecom connectivity and high-quality finishes. Facilities include a day-care centre, retail outlets and restaurants.

KAEC, a New Age City being built today for tomorrow's generation of Saudi citizens, has six components - sea port, industrial district, educational zone, central business district with commercial, mixed-use, retail outlets and financial island, resorts and residential area.

The mega-project works closely with the Kingdom's on-going drive to expand the economy, create employment opportunities for its youthful population and function as a catalyst to attract foreign investment, global trade, commerce and industry.
