  • PRESS RELEASE

Reaffirming its commitment to UAE nationals, the Emirates Group has this week honoured the excellent work undertaken by a number of students who took part in the Emirates Summer Trainee Programme.

In total, 60 students from local schools, colleges and universities, spent the last two months working across various Emirates departments including; Engineering, Customer Service and IT, as part of the Emirates Group's annual Summer Trainee Programme.

Emirates has a strong history of recruiting and developing the nation's youth and the Emirates Summer Trainee Programme is a further extension of this commitment.

The programme, a work experience assignment, provides UAE National students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and gain practical experience in the field of aviation.

Nasser Bin Kherbash, Emirates' Divisional Senior Vice President, HR Development and Employee Services, said:

"Our summer trainees have experienced Emirates' commitment to young people, which involves investment in career training and development as well as professional grooming initiatives such as the in-house mentoring scheme. It is our hope that these students will gain valuable exposure to the various fields of aviation and business and will look to a career with Emirates in the future. Despite the global crisis Emirates has remained steadfast in the employment of UAE Nationals and the Summer Trainee Programme is just one aspect of this commitment."

The students, aged 18 to 25, were presented with a certificate of appreciation upon completion of their summer training. Additional certificates for excellence were awarded to outstanding performers. Emirates received over 150 applications for the Summer Job Training Programme this year, with a total of 60 students securing placements.

In recent months, Emirates has helped thousands of young people apply for career training programmes with the Group. The team has also visited schools across the UAE to raise awareness of the company's career opportunities.
