- Bahrain: Thursday, August 27 - 2009 at 15:31
- PRESS RELEASE
As per ministry of works efforts to reduce the traffic congestion on King Faisal Highway, The Roads sector will commission a new traffic on King Faisal Highway on its intersection with Lulu Avenue.
Engineer Huda Fakhroo the Director of Road and Design Directorate stated that, the traffic studies that the ministry conducted, indicated that the traffic congestion at this spot is caused by the conflict between the three lanes traffic coming from Central market roundabout and Lulu Avenue towards eastbound with the three lane traffic on King Faisal Highway and the Central market flyover towards the eastbound as well.
This plan which was discussed and approved by the Traffic Board and the Municipal Council is considered as temporary solution until the full improvement and upgrading of King Faisal Highway project is implemented.
The Roads and Planning Directorate and in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic will continue monitoring the traffic movements and would act to adjust and improve the Traffic signal programming as necessary.
The work on this project includes civil work, laying electrical cables, providing traffic detecting loops with high consideration to provide over head signal to insure that drivers see the light from distance and be able to reduce their speed as approaching the intersection. The system will be monitored and enforced by Red Light cameras to record all violated drivers.
We request all road users to obey the signals and traffic regulations for their on safety and comfort.
