GAM to issue vocational and health licenses electronically by beginning of 2010

The City Deputy Director of Public Works, Engineer Mustafa Al Louzi, affirmed that the project that kicked off in mid August 2007 and will be implemented at the beginning of 2010 is a national project that turn into a success story.

He indicated that the new electronic system will be implemented in 21 districts, and that training for the directors and all those concerned in the districts will take place in groups, stating that the project will reduce procedures, minimize mistakes, and save time and energy for citizens and investors.

From his end, the Executive Director of Inspection and Surveillance, Eng. 'Ezel Deen Shamout, asserted that the project is the realization of H.M. King Abdullah the Second's vision which triggered the launch of an electronic government program at the close of 2003.

He commended the efforts of the integrated team which labored to make the system an on the ground reality, comprised of qualified cadre from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Civil Defense, Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Industry, the Directorate of Corporate Control (Companies Control), Ministry of Post and Communications, the Electronic Government, the executing company Optimizma, and GAM.

From another angle, Eng. Laura Al Hamoud, from the Electronic Government Directorate at the Ministry of Post and Communications, explained that, via the internet, the project will provide 40 services relating to the vocational and health system. She added that the project will automate all the necessary functions for the success of this service.

She pointed out that the new electronic system would play a significant part in decreasing the time spent on sending letters and paperwork back and forth between GAM and the relevant organizations, whose information pools will be linked, thereby speeding up the completion of official procedures. Furthermore, the system will also ensure that fees are properly calculated.

'Amer Rahhal from Optimizma, demonstrated the new system that has been implemented in 3 regions, namely, Zahran, Al Jbeiha, and Marka. He explained that the system comprised a webpage through which users can enter the address and access the internet.

During his demonstration of the new process for renewing vocational and health licenses, he added that each employee would have a user name and password, and that citizens could receive services electronically, without having to go to GAM offices, or by means of the guidance bureaus dispersed throughout GAM districts.

From her end, Head of the Training Center at GAM, Eng. Fadwa Abu Gheida, stated that the operators responsible for entering information would receive up to 36 hours of training on the new system. She also urged everyone to cooperate and adhere to the training periods, to better understand electronic vocational procedures and announcements.
