  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, August 30 - 2009 at 13:43

According to figures by the Kuwait-based Inter-Arab Investment Guarantee (IAIGC), the UAE has pumped more than $36bn (Dhs132bn) in direct investment into fellow Arab nations over the past 10 years. It is the largest capital exporter in the region, Emirates Business 24/7 has reported. The amount represents nearly 30% of the total exported Arab capital into member countries, IAIGC said. More than $10bn was invested in 2008 alone, with 11 Arab countries getting investments in sectors such as real estate, telecommunications, banking, industry and equity.
