Yvonne Bester, Director of Nursing and Operations, MPH, says:
"Events such as these help bring the community closer. Having a medical fraternity with diverse nationalities working in the hospital, we have taken initiative to celebrate each nation's Independence Day; and have made these celebrations a monthly affair."
American and Lebanese National Day were celebrated last month.
"Besides being historically significant, we celebrate important days such as these in order to have a fun-filled extravaganza for our staff. At this event we wanted our staff to come and experience the Indian and Pakistani culture and cuisine, and most importantly have a good time," she elaborates.
Paul Battelu, Hospitality and Hotel Services Director, says, "Our staff restaurant 'The Oasis' was decorated keeping in mind the Independence Day and colours of both countries."
He continues, "We hope all attendees found this to be an unforgettable experience, a unique opportunity to take a journey of India and Pakistan without setting foot on an airplane! And we hope that this will lead to a greater appreciation of not just the Indian and Pakistani culture, but also a feeling of kinship between peoples of all nations who work or convalesce at MPH."
