RAK Customs delegation learns about Dubai Customs practices

Dubai Customs received a delegation from Ras Al Khaimah Department of Customs and Ports inline with the mutual cooperation and exchanging expertise among different customs and government departments in the UAE.

The visit aims inform about the best implemented customs practices at Dubai Customs, initiatives launched in the filed of customer service, work procedures and the adopted methodologies at the Department.

Mr. Yousef Al Sahlawi, Acting Senior Executive Director of Corporate Affairs at Dubai Customs, welcomed the RAK delegation and confirmed that Dubai Customs puts its expertise in the service of other authorities and customs departments in the UAE which will contribute a great deal to the UAE.

In his welcoming speech, he added that Dubai Customs is highly committed to cooperate and exchange expertise with all customs departments and strategic partners locally, regionally and internationally.

Along with Mr. Al Sahlawi, Mr. Abbas A Makki, Director of External Relations Department, and Mr. Ali Alshahi, Manager of Regional and International Relations, received the delegation.

At the beginning of the visit, Mr. Alshahi gave a brief presentation on Dubai Customs, its customs centers, objectives of its strategic plan 2007-2011 and its vision and mission. Afterwards, he accompanied the delegation on a tour to introduce a number of departments at Dubai Customs; Client Management, Tariffs and Origin, Customs Value and Customs Declarations.

During the tour, the delegation was introduced to the adopted work procedures and its mechanism at the Department and the initiatives in the field of customer service; for example, Client Service Charter, TARJIM Service and the Complaint System. They also learnt about the work progress with regards to assessing goods' customs value and their compatibility with the standards of the country of origin certificates. Moreover, they were acquainted with the advantages provided by Mirsal2; an electronic customs clearance system.

RAK Department of Customs & Ports included Mr. Jasim Mohammed Al Ajmi, Customs Center Manager- Jazeera Free Zone, Mr. Ibrahim Alshahi, Acting Manager of Saqr Port Customs Center, Mr. Suod Saif Al Zaabi, Manager of Jazeera Port Customs Center, Mr. Mohammed Karam Al Belooshi, Acting Manager of Customs Center- Ras Al Dhara Center, Mr. Khalid Ahmad Al Wahhabi, Acting Manager of Customs Airport Center, Mrs Asma Hamad Juma, Mrs. Amina Ali Al Jadi and Mrs. Athaba Obaid Albagham.

At the end of the visit, RAK Customs delegation expressed their appreciation towards the great hospitality they received at Dubai Customs as well as their satisfaction towards the information they gathered and the adopted experiments at the different departments and sections.

In a message sent to Dubai Customs by Mr. Al Ajmi, he said that the visit was very useful and has added a lot of information regarding the successful experiences that can be benefited from.

Mr. Al Sahlawi handed the RAK delegation Dubai Customs' memorial gift.
