General Civil Aviation Authority appoints new Head of Strategic Planning and Corporate Excellence

"We are delighted to welcome Laila Bin Hareb Al Muhairi as the new Strategic Planning & Corporate Excellence Director in GCAA,"

said Saif Mohammed al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA.

"In recent months, the GCAA has been actively involved with numerous aviation development initiatives and safety programs. However, our priority remains to offer the best in quality service to our partners and position the UAE as global experts in aviation systems management and safety control," he added.

Suwaidi added, "The appointment of such a veteran in the field of corporate planning will add valuable direction to the GCAA's vision and assist in the efficient implementing of essential strategies that benefit all our partners."

The 'road ahead' for women has been a huge priority in recent years. The UAE Government has made efforts to improve the status of women by encouraging them to enter the workforce in greater numbers, and putting them in higher positions."

Laila Bin Hareb Al Muhairi holds several qualifications in Project Management and Quality Assurance, in addition to her Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences. Furthermore, she is on her way to accomplish a Doctorate in Business Administration.

Her previous experiences and achievements include developing a three year Corporate Strategy Plan and the implementation of CRM strategy for RTA where as the Director-Strategy and Corporate Performance, she was instrumental in establishing performance standards as well as strategic and planning excellence in the organisation.

She also brings a wealth of experience in the areas of Information Technology Operations, Training, Marketing and held senior management roles with DEWA.

"I am honoured to further support such a strong corporate national entity. My previous experiences within large national organizations have provided me with invaluable experience in creating professional communication systems that provide third party associates, customers and colleagues with timely information in addition to identifying strategic opportunities to further enhance existing operational procedures," said Mrs. Muhairi.

Part of Al Muhairi's role includes developing stronger communication ties, through the introduction of novel communication systems, with all the GCAA's stakeholders including the media, customers and its business partners. Al Muhairi will also look to recognize new avenues to further the GCAA's international reputation as the organization expands its role on the global aviation stage.

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) was created in 1996 by Federal Cabinet Decree (Law 4) to regulate Civil Aviation and provide designated aviation services with emphasis on safety and security and to strengthen the aviation industry within the UAE and its upper airspace.

This autonomous body is the sole authority for the control and regulation of civil aviation in the UAE, having responsibility for the provision of enroute air navigation services and all aspects of flight safety.

Working closely with the individual Emirates' Departments of Civil Aviation, the GCAA has already done much to enhance the quality of service provided to carries and, through them, their customers. GCAA has installed the very latest air traffic control systems, improved the methods by which aeronautical information is disseminated and refined regulatory, inspection investigation and licensing procedures.
