Held in association with Layali Al Asalah, children dressed up in traditional clothing and took part in competitions and games with prizes. They also sang the 'qaranqashoo' song, which means 'we have been good, give us sweets'.

A special kids' fashion show was the highlight of the evening with the children modelling a line of traditional Omani clothes.

Hassan Jaboub, Manager of Qurum City Centre, said:

"Qaranqashoo is all about rewarding children for their good behaviour during the first 15 days of the holy month. We adapted the traditional journey from door to door in the neighbourhood to ask for presents, to going from shop to shop for traditional sweets in a specially designed gift bag."

"The response was great and our customers loved the fact that their children could experience this tradition. Having it in the mall also means giving our non-Muslim visitors the opportunity to learn about this custom," Jaboub added.
