OnLine and Cisco take students off wirelessly

The concept of participating at such an event was primarily to promote awareness on networking without the hassles of wires, associated productivity benefits and more specifically zero in on the advantages of associating with Cisco, the worldwide leader in internetworking for Wireless LANs.

At WIMA there was a live demo set up on the Cisco/ OnLine stall which comprised of Cisco's flagship 1200 series access point operating simultaneously in both 11 mbps 802.11b and 54 mbps 802.11a modes delivering dual benefits of greater geographical coverage and higher data rates in terms of bandwidth, thereby making the solution highly flexible and scalable.

A Wireless bridge live demo was also set up on the Cisco/ OnLine stall, which enables Wireless Connectivity between sites as much as 25 miles apart using specialized Dish Antenna for RF transmission.

An hours educative seminar on Cisco Wireless Technology ran to a packed audience.

Our idea was two fold; firstly to bring home the convenience, mobility and productivity benefits of Wireless LANs and secondly, to highlight the fact that Cisco Wireless LAN products are uniquely positioned to deliver the benefits of wireless networking in a campus environment." said Jitendra Kapoor, New Technologies Manager at OnLine Distribution Ltd.

He also added, "The students were very impressed with the dual mode operation of the Cisco 1200 series access points and the wireless bridging concept."
