Ramzi J. Razian, Managing Director of Spectrum said that the facility is not a conventional business centre but a fully-equipped print hub that has been created to meet the exact needs of AUD students:
"Spectrum on Campus came about after requests from, and interviews with various departments at the university. AUD faculty and students both said that easy access to quick and high-quality printing, copying and scanning services was of paramount importance for them. Spectrum on Campus will feature a full range of digital print solutions, together with laser marking, engraving and cutting facilities, ensuring that AUD students can see their material just as they intended."
Mr. Elie Sawaya, Director of Central Services at The American University in Dubai added, "We are delighted to be welcoming Spectrum on Campus to AUD; now anyone studying at our university will be able to immediately access professional print services. These are vital for students studying courses run by the Department of Architecture, Department of Interior Design, Department of Visual Communication and School of Engineering. Students will be able to print material produced in a variety of applications - including AutoCAD and Adobe InDesign - so that they can concentrate on their work, rather than locating and traveling to a printer off campus!"
Promotions will be an integral part of the appeal of Spectrum on Campus: from 1 September until 31 October 2009 inclusive, any AUD student spending amount of money or more in a single visit will be entered into a draw to win a new Apple Mac Pro computer.
Located at C146 & C147 on the ground floor of the University's C Building, Spectrum on Campus covers 800 square feet across two units, one of which is exclusively for the use of AUD students and faculty. It will be open between 8 am and 7 pm, with printing-on-demand available until midnight, and will be run by a general manager and team of seven highly experienced graphic designers. Hired exclusively from Fortune 500 companies, the team will be on hand to pass on their expert design and print advice to anyone using Spectrum on Campus services.
Ramzi concluded by saying that Spectrum intended the concept to be used in academic institutions elsewhere in the Middle East: "Spectrum on Campus at AUD is the first stage of our expansion; Spectrum UAE Ltd will soon be offering franchise opportunities of this unique concept to qualified investors. We believe our award-winning service*, made available on site at academic institutions, will quickly prove to be a highly successful and popular business model."
