Chefs' competition to be held at Food and Hotel Oman 2009

The Oman Chefs Guild, a professional organization made up of chefs from major hotels and the hospitality industry in the sultanate, will be holding a competition for chefs at the upcoming Food and Hotel Oman 2009 exhibition this October.

The competition is organized in partnership with Omanexpo LLC, which is the organizer of Food & Hotel Oman 2009, and with the support of Salman Hotel & Restaurant Equipment LLC, which serves as the sponsor of the competition.

"This exciting competition, which is an excellent opportunity for chefs here in Oman to showcase their talent, creativity and skill," said O.S. Thomas, Foodservices Manager of Al Seer and Honorary Secretary of the Oman Chefs Guild. "It will be something that everyone directly involved in Oman's culinary scene should not miss."

The competition is open to everyone representing the food production industry and will be mainly participated in by chefs from different hotel properties, restaurants, and bakeries in the sultanate. It will be held inside the Oman International Exhibition Centre and will run for the whole duration of the Food & Hotel Oman exhibition from October 26-28.

There will be three categories for the competition, which are as follows: (a) The Best Wedding Cake on the 26th of October, (b) Five-Course Meal on the 27th of October, and (c) Live Fruit and Vegetable Carvings on the 28th of October.

A panel of judges will be flown in from abroad to judge the top three winners for each category. All the winners will receive valuable prizes and certificates courtesy of Salman Hotel & Restaurant Equipment LLC (SHARE). Individual participation certificates will also be given to all participants.

Food & Hotel Oman is an international exhibition that will showcase not only the latest kitchen and catering equipment but also various types of food and beverage, hotel equipment and supplies, food processing technologies, and hospitality technologies. The three-day exhibition will also display food-packaging supplies, hotel interiors, and everything related to agriculture and fisheries.
