He said that the infrastructure of these markets is vital to ensure their sustainability. And it is of GAM's responsibility to ensure the readiness of these markets to meet the public requirements, including their locations, land spaces, sunshades, lightings, and sanitary facilities, along with daily cleaning and health control.

Al-Kurdi reiterated GAM's objectives behind establishing these markets, maintaining that they aim at providing citizens with their needs of foodstuffs at best way and place, with affordable prices, as well as helping producers to market their products more effectively.

He said that seven markets are currently operating in Amman during Ramadan, and run by the Capital's farmers association which takes responsibility of organizing and handling these markets each year. The markets are located in the districts of Basman, Mgabalein, Kherbet Al-Souk, Badr, Marka, Al-Naser, and Abdali.

It is worth mentioning that GAM is establishing Ramadan souks annually to help controlling the haphazard dispersion of street daises that sell vegetables and fruits in a disorganized manner.

Beside the aforementioned souks, the Municipality also established and developed 13 popular souks around Amman in Ramadan, including eight temporary souks in the districts of Marj Al-Hamam, Al-Jeezah, Sahab, Mgabalein, Abdali, Abu Nseir, Qweismeh, and Wadi El-Seer.

The other five souks are permanent and are established in the regions of Wihdat, Jabal Al-Hussein, Al-Hashimi Al-Shimali, Wadi El-Seer, and Yarmouk.
