Injazat sponsors 2nd 'I Play Sports' diabetes awareness tournament

The daily games will be played from 9:30 to 11:30 pm and are expected to gather more than 400 supporters representing participating companies, sponsors and families.

'I Play Sports' is the fifth pillar supporting the award-winning Diabetes.Knowledge.Action' public health awareness campaign being undertaken under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak.

It involves a corporate-community football tournament which promotes the importance of an active lifestyle. More than 150 footballers divided into teams representing leading Abu Dhabi-based organizations Injazat Data Systems, Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies, National Insurance Company - Daman, Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investments Co. LLC, Etihad Airways, Takatof and ICDLC itself will compete.

The UAE has the world's second highest number of diabetes cases per capita, with one out of five residents aged 20 to 79 afflicted with the disease and 23 million years of life lost to it annually.

Around 80% of Type 2 diabetes, the non-insulin-dependent form of the illness, can be prevented if detected and treated early on and countered by a more active lifestyle, exercise, and a healthier diet.

Between Dhs367 to 734 million is spent annually to treat diabetes in the country. Diabetes.Knowledge.Action. provides the knowledge and tools necessary to prevent diabetes dissemination campaigns and screening activities.

Injazat is actively involved in various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Last year, the company was the Silver sponsor of the first Arab Benevolence Forum, a platform for promoting intensified regional CSR.
