Mobily, Saudi Arabia's fastest growing service operator, said that sales of the its routers quadrupled in just two days, setting a new growth record.

Mobily further expected that sales of the routers will continue to soar when new areas in the Kingdom get WiMax coverage in the coming two weeks, supplemented by an intensive publicity campaign that supports Mobily's genuine product. Mobily's most recent promotion on the WiMax service sees customers paying only SR85 a month for staggering connectivity speeds.

Bayanat Al-Oula, Mobily's data arm had launched WiMax broadband in June 2008, initially in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Khobar. In June, Mobily signed a SR375m contract with Samsung to spread the coverage to 20 more towns, the most recent of which was Ahsaa.

Mobily alerted its customers to make sure that they are buying the Mobily-branded genuine article from its branches and dealers. The company said that coverage will spread to more and more districts in Riyadh, Jeddah and Eastern Province cities within a month.
