As usual the college provided its students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at some of the finest international companies and universities across the globe in order to enhance their skills and allow them to understand our rapidly changing environment.

This year, 11 Chemical Engineering students were trained abroad in Japan, accompanied by Dr. Abdullah Hasna, Head of Chemical and Mechanical Engineering in Abu Dhabi Men's College. The students had the chance to visit a number of Japanese industrial companies including Cosmo Oil, Toshiba, Nissan and some of the sewage and oil refineries in Tokyo and Osaka. This allowed the students to acquire a wide knowledge of the technical, operational and organizational skills in Japan. It also introduced them to new ways of handling the management of these factories and techniques to keep those companies competitive.

"Japan, which is a pioneer in the field of petrochemical industries, was an essential trip for our students. It really taught them on how to deal with any situations that may arise,"

said Dr. Hasna.

Another 40 students had the chance to improve and sustain their English through intensive courses in Cambridge and Edinburgh universities. For four weeks, the students were split into equal groups, divided between Jesus College, Cambridge and Edinburgh in Scotland. During this time they concentrated on preparation for the IELTS exam.

Besides enhancing their lingual skills, ADMC students had the chance to enjoy some European cultural diversity as they visited multiple educational and cultural areas in the cities. This experience is probably one of the most important trips undertaken by the college since it gave its undergraduates the chance to develop their English language, strengthen their leadership and teamwork skills and finally boost their self confidence in spoken English.

In addition to that, 20 engineering students went on a field trip to Germany where they were shown different factories in Dresden, Germany. This visit was sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces. The students, in coordination with the Board of Education and Abu Dhabi Investment Company, visited the Global Founders, one of the best companies in producing and manufacturing technological microchips. Global founders will soon open in Abu Dhabi as a part of the company's expansion plan.

ADMC students spent five weeks in Dresden; they were divided into five groups, and their trainings varied between applied technology in companies such as Volkswagen and other heavy industries and theory, when they visited some universities and attended several industrial and economic lectures. To get a better understanding of the country, the students then visited national museums and the parliament and the municipal government.

Aside from the technical skills the students gain through the training, traveling abroad also provides them with exposure to different cultural lifestyles — a must in global business these days.
