The new technology performs power correction, regulating the power factor levels at 0.99, eliminating the need for capacitor banks, while also reducing heat and harmonic noise of motors.
"We installed two main distribution boards (MDB -01 and MDB -03) on 4th of August 2009 on a trial basis, and we have since been monitoring the power consumption of the hotel. Based on readings taken from 6th of August 2009 to date, I am pleased to report that some 25% of power savings in MDB-01 and some 28% of power savings in MDB-03 can be quantified,"
says Sakher Al Karmi, Complex Chief Engineer, Southern Sun, Al Manzil Hotel and Qamardeen Hotels.
Southern Sun, Al Manzil Hotel's recent efforts are in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai.
This vision aims at transforming Dubai into a green and environmentally responsible community by reducing carbon emissions throughout its travel and lodging industries by 20% by 2011 as well as the conservation of natural resources and responsible stewardship of energy, water and gas.
"I can gladly confirm that this new technology indeed offers an excellent alternative in energy savings and has shown no negative effects on our equipment or hotel operation," Al Karmi concluded.
