Asiacell launches its 'Smart Roamer Service'

Asiacell, the private Iraqi company and the first mobile telecommunications company to provide coverage for all of Iraq, announced the launch of its Smart Roamer Service, which offers all Asiacell subscribers a cost-efficient and simple roaming experience that requires no additional registration procedures.

Subscribers can now benefit from discounted rates for local calls as well as call back to Iraq and to other countries within the Smart Roamer Zone.

The service also offers a fixed rate for receiving calls and sending SMSs within countries that fall under the Smart Roamer Zone.

The Smart Roamer Service was launched on the 20th of August 2009, and included a number of selected operators within the region that lie within the Smart Roamer Zone, including Etisalat in the United Arab Emirates, Orange in Jordan, Qtel in Qatar, Nawras in Oman, Wataniya in Kuwait, and Turkcell in Turkey.

Commenting on the launch of this service, Dr. Diar Ahmed, CEO of Asiacell, said:
