The Seed program works to educate students on global issues that have an influence on their futures.
The program promotes education on issues such as water conservation, energy usage and conservation, and climate change.
This is done through direct interaction with Schlumberger engineers and scientists and is available in seven languages, namely Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
To further engage students in such issues and inspire them to pursue careers in those fields, Schlumberger also pledged to fit the school represented by the first place finalists with state-of-the-art computer laboratory and an online science center, and will also offer the first and second prize winners internships in Schlumberger.
The Kuwait Science Fair was founded, and continues to be operated by ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Kuwait Limited and Kuwait Energy Company.
Now in its second run, the Kuwait Science Fair is the largest science competition in Kuwait, encompassing over 150 high-schools from across the country.
Following the success of last year's competition, the Kuwait Science Fair has received an encouraging number of sponsors for this year's competition, which is held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Oil and Information, and Chairman of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
KSF Managing Director Ms. Aseel Al-Turkait said:
"We are very excited to join hands with Schlumberger to encourage students to erase the boundaries of their imaginations and engage them into pursuing careers in math and science. This year's prizes will definitely raise the bar of challenge between students."
Schlumberger General Manager Maen Al-Razouqi said: "Schlumberger continuously invests in today's youth, which is why we seized the opportunity to support rising talents and to be part in guiding them through their career paths. We look forward to the projects that will be presented and to the students that will join us in the training program."
The competition is scheduled to launch on September 28 with school briefings and a registration drive.
To qualify, students must be enrolled in a local high school, and submit all forms requested, which will be available on the competition's website in September.
