Banking and Islamic finance lawyer joins Latham & Watkins in the Middle East

Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Mark Morris has joined the firm's Dubai office in the Finance Department.

Morris is a banking and Islamic finance lawyer with more than four years regional experience advising financial institutions and corporations on a wide range of conventional and Islamic finance transactions in the MENA region. Morris has advised on a number of multi-source, and wholly Islamic, project financings as well as syndicated debt and asset finance transactions across all GCC jurisdictions.

Morris' arrival further bolsters the firm's Islamic finance practice which includes a number of experienced attorneys in the region as well as in the US and Europe.

He brings a wealth of experience to the team and his deep and varied background are very complementary to our growth ambitions in the Middle East, in particular our Shari'ah-compliant banking and financing practice. Morris joins from Norton Rose's Dubai office. He received his LLB from University College London in 2000. He holds the Islamic Finance Qualification issued by the UK's Security and Investment Institute.
